As part of the Anglo American Group our company subscribes to the following international
sustainable development agreements:
Ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact
This initiative was created to encourage all institutions and companies worldwide to
adopt ten principles of conduct and action in the areas of human rights, labor
standards, the environment and anti-corruption as an integral part of their strategy
and operation.
Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights
This framework of action ensures that extractive companies (mainly oil, gas and
mining companies) guarantee the security of their workers and respect the rights of
individuals living close to their productive facilities.
Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative
This initiative brings together countries, international financial institutions, NGOs and
investors to promote transparency in employment and resource generation in countries
where extractive activities are carried out. This is accomplished through the introduction
of good practices and open discussion on how corporate resources are generated
and invested.
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
This initiative is promoted by the NGO Coalition for Environmentally Responsible
Economies and the United Nations Environment Program. Its mission is to offer a
trustworthy, credible framework for the preparation of sustainability reports that can
