CONSERVATION IN YERBA LOCA NATURE SANCTUARY
In partnership with Lo Barnechea municipality and CONAF (the National Forestry Commission), Los Bronces Division has initiated a conservation project for the nearby Yerba Loca Nature Sanctuary with a series of different actions to conserve and promote this wilderness area.

STUDY AND CONSERVATION OF THE ANDEAN CONDOR IN THE METROPOLITAN REGION
Under an agreement signed with CONAF (Chile’s National Forest Service) for the period August 2006-September 2008, Anglo American is offering its support for satellite monitoring of 4 condors (2 males and 2 females), as part of the program "Study and Conservation of the Andean Condor in the Metropolitan Region." This monitoring program seeks to obtain information on the ecology, use and management of the condor’s food sources. The studies conducted to date point to the existence of a large condor population that moves round seasonally in search of carrion.

Anglo American has contributed to the Bi-national Andean Condor Conservation Program by funding the bulk of the costs associated with the release and follow up of condors born in captivity.
