Energy Savings

The issue of energy savings is a constant concern for Anglo American Chile. Because of this we have implemented a series of actions aimed at reducing our energy consumption, including the following:

Energy and Natural Resource Use Program, the objective of which
is to improve energy efficiency by 15% and reduce CO2 emissions by
10% by 2014. This achievement will help the Anglo American Group
to reach its goal of slowing down climate change due to global warming.

Establishment of the Energy Committee, which was created in 2005 and is
composed of representatives from all our divisions. This Committee designed a
general table of energy consumption and emissions for the 2003 – 2005 period, with
forecasts to 2013, and established mandatory monthly reporting requirements for
energy consumption, CO2 emissions and fresh water consumption.

Responsible Energy Use Campaign, an initiative that seeks to involve all
company employees in saving energy, through the systematization of good
  practices, projects and investments.
