School buses for
El Melón students
El Soldado Division

Before 2005, close to
120 children and youth from Collahue, Los Caleos and Macal
III had to walk nearly 10 kilometers to school each day.
This changed when El Soldado Division hired school buses
to pick up the children at home and take them to their
schools.
The program not only was able to boost student attendance
in class but also increased student safety and parents’
peace of mind.
