Located in Region V in the municipality of Catemu, 100
kilometers north of Santiago and at 400 meters above sea
level.
The smelter’s productive process (copper concentrate
fusion) is carried out using the modern Flash furnace,
a technology known for its low emission levels, making
the smelter an environmental leader in Chile’s mining
industry.
In 2008 the Division produced 146,144 tonnes of copper anodes and 486,616 tonnes
of sulfuric acid.
The Chagres Division has approximately 457 workers, including company employees
and external contractors for operations and projects.
